When requesting a site evaluation - please use our template below.
Unifying the format used for each evaluation post will make your post easier to digest and read, and as a result, leading to more community members responding to it.
Please use following template:
Site URL - please fill in your site’s URL (www.example.com)
Scorecard - post a link to your site’s scorecard. This will allow WOT community members to quickly access your scorecard, where they can leave their evaluations (www.mywot.com/scorecard/example.com)
Introduction - tell us more about your website! What is its purpose and target audience, who is it for, etc. Did you recently make some improvements that you would love to share with our community? Or, if you think your site is rated unfairly, please explain why do you think so
Privacy policy - if your website has a privacy policy, simply post a link to it here.
If your site does not have a privacy policy, please shortly explain why
Contact the site owners - do you have a dedicated “contact us” page where visitors can find a way to reach out to you? If so, please post a link here.
In case you don’t have a dedicated page, please post your contact information here.
Whois information - please generate a link to your site’s “whois” database. See this example on how to do so: http://whois.domaintools.com/example.com
Ownership verification
We do recommend verifying the ownership of your website in order to get all the site owner’s privileges. If you own an http site, there are two ways to verify ownership - through “My sites” tab in your profile or by going to your site’s scorecard and follow the “Click here if you own this site” link under the site’s description. However if you own an https site please contact us directly for personalized guidelines.
Please take a moment to read the Forum Guidelines first.
1. The preferred language
The preferred language of these forums is English, unless otherwise indicated in a subforum.
2. Before requesting help
If you have a question, we probably already have an answer. Please check here before asking:
- WOT FAQ General information about the WOT add-on and website reputation ratings
- WOT Wiki A cooperative project by WOT staff and WOT community members to provide information concerning the WOT Reputation Scorecard, the WOT API, online tools, how to improve your site's reputation and much more.
- Wiki FAQ An extended FAQ concerning common misconceptions, ratings vs. comments, malicious rumors and blacklist-based ratings.
3. When requesting a site evaluation
We welcome requests for site evaluations. You can fill in this form. The WOT wiki has an excellent article on how to ask for ratings.
4. If your website is rated poorly
To get the quickest response, please request an evaluation. Good manners will get you further than threats or insults, so please be polite and respectful.
Note: A good reputation has to be earned, it cannot be bought. If you receive offers to improve your site's reputation in exchange for payment after posting a review request on the forum, it's a scam.
5. ]When posting websites and links
Please do not post live links when referencing a website. We do not want anyone to accidentally visit a dangerous site.
Use simple domain names in a format like this:
- example.com
- example.org
- example.co.uk
- example.de
- 127.0.0.1
If you are referencing a URL, change the HTTP to HXXP. For example:
- hxxp://www.bad-malware-site.com/images/phish/virus.html
- hxxp://127.0.0.1/exp/botnet/phish.php
6. If your site is commercial-based and you do not have a privacy / cookie policy, it is advised that you install one. The WOT Wiki has information on:
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- Privacy Policy
Good Luck! and stay safe online!
